About me
Born in Oxford in 1979, Alexandra now lives in Yorkshire, where she works from her home studio and metals workshop. Throughout her life Alexandra has spent a great deal of time with her horses, observing their behavious and physiology, which can be clearly seen in her work. Her sculpture strives to pinpoint the illusive spirit of the horse - she extends the forms beyond the stoic pictorial into realms of the mythic, ancient and symbolic. Reminiscent of prehistoric forms, Alexandra portrays the horse as neither majestic nor whimsical, but as a fluid force of nature within itself. She graduated from the University of Derby with a BA Honours in Fine Art in 2004 and immediately began exhibiting her sculpture in galleries and art fairs both here in the UK and internationally.
