Terms & Conditions
Last updated: [September 2025]
Welcome to Alexandra Shorey Sculpture. By accessing or purchasing through this website (www.alexandrashorey.co.uk), you agree to the following terms and conditions:
⸻
1. Business Information
Alexandra Shorey Sculpture is a UK-based business. All sales are processed under UK law, regardless of the buyer’s country of residence. The artist is frequently based between the UK and Saudi Arabia. Depending on availability, artworks may be shipped from either location. Buyers will be informed of the point of dispatch when arranging delivery.
⸻
2. Purchasing
Artworks may be purchased:
• Directly from the artist (via bank transfer or invoice), or
• Through the online shop (using the available checkout system).
In both cases, the same terms regarding payment, shipping, and returns apply.
⸻
3. Payment
• For direct purchases, payment is accepted by bank transfer unless otherwise agreed in writing.
• For shop purchases, payment is processed securely through the shop’s payment system.
• Orders are confirmed only once full payment has been received.
• Instalment Plans: In certain cases, buyers may pay in instalments during the production period.
• A non-refundable deposit (percentage agreed in advance) is required to secure the order.
• The instalment schedule (amounts and dates) will be confirmed in writing before work begins.
• The artwork will only be delivered once the full balance has been received.
• If the buyer cancels before completion, any payments already made (beyond the deposit) may be retained to cover work in progress, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
⸻
4. Pricing & Shipping
• Prices quoted to buyers normally include standard worldwide shipping.
• For unusually large, heavy, or specially commissioned works that require bespoke crating, specialist couriers, or installation, additional shipping costs may apply. These will be clearly quoted and agreed with the buyer before payment is taken.
• Buyers will always be informed in advance whether shipping is included in the quoted price.
• Trade Pricing: Trade pricing or discounts may be offered at the discretion of Alexandra Shorey Sculpture for interior designers, galleries, or other trade buyers. In such cases, shipping costs may be charged separately and will be confirmed at the time of quotation.
⸻
5. Cooling-Off Period, Returns & Cancellations
Under UK consumer law, buyers normally have a 14-day right to cancel online purchases.
• For ready-made artworks (pieces already in stock), this right applies.
• For made-to-order artworks that follow a standard edition or design (not personalised), this right may still apply.
• For commissioned or customised artworks (where the artwork is created or altered specifically to the buyer’s request), the 14-day cancellation right does not apply, and all sales are final once work has commenced.
If exercising this right the artwork must be returned in its original condition and packaging, with return shipping at the buyers expense.
⸻
6. Damaged Artwork
In the rare event that an artwork arrives damaged, buyers must notify us within 7 days of delivery with photographic evidence.
Depending on the nature of the damage, remedies may include:
• A repair kit provided to the buyer at no cost,
• A professional repair arranged by the artist, or
• Return and replacement/refund.
If a return is agreed:
• The artwork must be returned in its original packaging (or equivalent protective packaging) before a refund or replacement will be issued.
• Return shipping costs for damaged items will be covered by Alexandra Shorey Sculpture.
• Refunds will not be issued without the safe return of the original artwork.
⸻
7. Copyright & Intellectual Property
All artworks, designs, images, and written content created by Alexandra Shorey Sculpture remain the intellectual property of the artist.
• Ownership of the artwork: When purchasing an artwork, the buyer acquires the physical object only. Copyright and all associated intellectual property rights remain with the artist.
• Reproduction rights: No artwork may be copied, photographed for commercial use, reproduced, printed, or otherwise exploited without prior written permission from the artist.
• Artist’s rights: The artist retains the right to use images of all artworks, including commissioned works, for promotional, portfolio, exhibition, and publication purposes.
• Moral rights: The artist asserts the right to be identified as the creator of all works produced.
⸻
6. Liability
• Alexandra Shorey Sculpture is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of this website or purchase of artworks.
• Responsibility for risk of loss passes to the buyer upon delivery by the courier.
⸻
8. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England & Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England & Wales.
